Keep working when your Mac sleeps
Close the lid and the work carries on. With cloud standby on, each working local session in Hachi keeps a standby in its project's cloud agent, ready to take over.
Turn it on
- Open Hachi's settingsGo to Settings › Cloud agents.
- Turn on the switchKeep working in the cloud when this Mac sleeps. It is off until you turn it on.
You need a workspace with cloud agents; see Get access.
What happens when the Mac sleeps
- While you work, Hachi mirrors each working Codex or Claude Code session to its project's cloud agent: the conversation within a second or two, and the files, including uncommitted changes and local commits, within a few seconds.
- When the Mac sleeps or goes offline, the cloud agent takes over within about 15 to 90 seconds and continues the session as a cloud thread. A sleep shorter than about 15 seconds moves nothing.
- Only one copy works. Your Mac pauses its own turn after 60 seconds without reaching AOZUMI, so the two never both write.
- When the Mac wakes, Hachi shows where each session went.
Bring a session back
Open the thread and choose Teleport to Local. The session and its files come back to your Mac and continue there.
Questions
- Can the Mac and the cloud both work on the same session?
- No. Your Mac pauses its own turn after 60 seconds without reaching AOZUMI, before the cloud can take over, so only one copy works at a time.
- Does cloud standby cost agent hours?
- Yes. While a local session works with standby on, the project's cloud agent stays running and uses agent hours.
- Which sessions does it cover?
- Local Codex and Claude Code sessions that are working. Other harnesses are not covered.
